Established in 2019 in São Paulo, Brazil, by Rodrigo Franzão and currently headquartered virtually in New Orleans, USA, the Museu Têxtil aims to bring together enthusiasts of art, design, and culture, providing a space for inspiration and discovery. Our focus is on presenting universal research, techniques, and styles found in textile, mixed, and dimensional arts, brought by global visionaries who share their creativity and worldview.
At the core of our institution is the promotion of the work of creative minds who employ textile strategies in their works, while fostering an environment conducive to research, production, and artistic exhibition. We value and encourage the creation of new works, as well as the continuous improvement of techniques and knowledge in this field.
We believe that art is a fusion of the real and the utopian, and we seek to explore this interaction through an emphatic and self-referential approach, providing insights into the representative meanings employed by artists and designers in their creations. Our goal is to unravel the foundations that underpin artistic research, revealing how professionals in this field use their senses to express their worldviews through textile art.
To offer an enriching experience to our virtual visitors, we utilize various media formats, such as audiovisual presentations, exhibition projects, and thematic programs, highlighting the importance of textiles in art history and in different social, cultural, political, and economic contexts.
Additionally, we integrate our commitment to education through the INTHEARTS magazine, where we interview creative geniuses and scholars to broaden understanding of artistic creation. With this initiative, we aim to enhance the experience of our visiting public, contributing to the dissemination of knowledge and appreciation of textile art on a global scale.
